William J. Kresse, Fellow, was named as one of the recipients of the ABA Task Force for American Democracy’s Unsung Heroes of Democracy award. The award will be presented during the Democracy Summit luncheon at the ABA Annual Meeting on Friday, Aug. 2.
The Task Force for American Democracy was created by ABA President Mary Smith to bolster voter confidence in elections, educate Americans on democracy and the rule of law, and suggest ideas to the American people for improving and strengthening our democracy and our elections. There are eight organizations and 14 individuals, including five election officials, receiving the award this year.
Kresse is an Associate Professor at Governors State University and a Chicago Election Commissioner. He is the President of the nonprofit Institute of Election Auditors. In 2007, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners awarded him with Educator of the Year.
