Roscoe Jones, Jr., Fellow, was announced as the next Dean of the Drake University School of Law on January 22. He will become the 22nd dean of the Drake Law School, effective July 1, 2024. He will be the successor to another ABF Fellow, Dean Jerry Anderson.
When Jones joins Drake, he will make history as not only the first Black dean of Drake Law School but also the University’s first Black dean of any college or school. Drake Law School was founded in Des Moines in 1865, which makes it one of the 25 oldest law schools in the country.
Jones is currently a partner and co-chair of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s public policy group. He also spent almost a decade in senior-level roles on Capitol Hill for various Senators and Representatives. In addition to being a Fellow of the ABF, he is also an elected member of the American Law Institute and Council on Foreign Relations.
