Professor Suzette Malveaux, Fellow, was named as the 2025 Clyde Ferguson, Jr. Award recipient from the Section on Minority Groups from the Association of American Law Schools. She’ll receive the award at the AALS annual meeting in January.
The award is named for Clarence Clyde Ferguson, Jr., a professor of law and a U.S. ambassador. The award recognizes an outstanding legal educator who, during their career, has achieved excellence in the areas of public service, teaching, and scholarship. Winners are also recognized for the support, encouragement, and mentoring they provide to their colleagues, students, and current or aspiring members of the profession.
Professor Malveaux currently teaches at Washington & Lee Law in 2024 from University of Colorado at Boulder, where she was the Moses Lasky Professor of Law and Director of the Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law. Just last year in Louisville, she was named as the ABF’s 2024 Outstanding Service Award winner and was honored with the National Civil Justice Institute 2024 Scholarship award.
