Professor Emerita Susan Gary, Life Fellow, was named as the 2024 Meritorious Service Award, which is the highest award given by Oregon Law. The award is presented annually at commencement and is given to a person or persons whose contributions to the law have been extraordinary.
Professor Gary joined the University of Oregon School of Law in 1989 and formally joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 1992. During her time there, she worked on the Oregon Law Commission, to help modernize the state’s probate process.
Professor Gary has authored or co-authored 6 books, 22 law review articles, and over 90 practice-oriented or legislative articles, chapters, and reports. She also served as Reporter for three Uniform Acts promulgated by the Uniform Law Commission. In 2019 Oregon law awarded her the Hollis Teaching Award in 2019 in recognition of her outstanding teaching.
