Professor Deborah E. Anker, Fellow, recently published the 2024 edition of Law of Asylum in the United States. This edition features key areas such as theories of persecution, persecution by non-state actors, mental harm or suffering as persecution, and circumstances in which climate change factors may be a basis for asylum.
This is the first time that Anker is joined by a co-author, Jeffrey S. Chase, a former Immigration Judge. He also founded and leads the Round Table of Former Immigration Judges, whose members have served as amici on more than 100 briefs to date.
Professor Anker is Clinical Professor of Law, emerita, and Founder of the Harvard Law School Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program (HIRC). Prior to her retirement, she taught law students at Harvard for over 30 years.
