Tracey Meares (she/her) is the Walton Hale Hamilton Professor and Founding Director of the Justice Collaboratory at Yale Law School. Before joining Yale, she was a professor at the University of Chicago Law School from 1995 to 2007. She was the first African American woman granted tenure at both law schools. Meares is a nationally recognized expert on policing in urban communities and has worked extensively with the federal government, including being a member of President Barack Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. In 2019, Meares was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
