Merle Wilberding, Ohio Life Fellow and Attorney at Coolidge Wall, has been inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. The Ohio Veterans Hal of fame recognizes veterans for the public work they have done after their military service, not for what they did during their military service. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Wilberding joined the Coolidge Wall law firm in Dayton, Ohio. His military background enabled him to represent the family of Marine LCpl Maria Lauterbach who was murdered by a fellow Marine against whom she had claimed sexual assault. Wilberding’s efforts produced changes in the Uniform Code of Military Justice that better protect victims of sexual assault in the military. In addition, Wilberding has received numerous awards for his public service in the State of Ohio.
