Leonard M. Niehoff, Michigan Life Fellow and Professor from Practice at the University of Michigan Law School, has authored an op-ed in the Detroit Free Press entitled “Law professor: Virus reveals we all need a class in evidence.” In the article, Professor Niehoff explains the importance of learning the principles by which good evidence abides–namely, its relevance and its reliability. He argues that our failure to understand these principles, which are taught as necessary curriculum in law schools, is revealed by societal responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
