Featured Keynote: “Constitutions, Courts and COVID: Legal Responses to a Pandemic Around the World” with Tom Ginsburg (ABF Research Professor; Leo Spitz Professor of International Law, Professor of Political Science, University of Chicago)
As it has made its way around the globe, the coronavirus has not only threatened lives, but has posed a great challenge to governments. Countries have relied on a wide range of legal tools, such as adopting special legislation and issuing states of emergency, with many facing challenges in courts. This presentation will survey responses and focus on whether democracies have been hampered relative to authoritarian regimes.
